Insomniac Illustrations creates fun scenarios of original and popular characters in a unique style!

My goal is to build a community passionate about seeing or making art involving pop culture themes, such as, Marvel, Star Wars, Disney, and Studio Ghibli along with various video games and anime.

Have you ever gone to an Artist Alley at a convention only to pass booth after booth of the same characters posing the same way in the same style? I have too. It was one of the reasons I wanted to become an Alley Artist - so I could offer interesting stories with a variety of characters we know and love.

Hey there!

My name is Cassandra Byard, and I love reading comics and playing video games along with watching movies and anime.

I guess what I really love about those activities are the stories they tell. As the events progress and the characters grow, I tend to get emotionally attached. Don’t tell me you didn’t cheer at the end of Spirited Away when Chiharu guessed her parents correctly out of that huge group of pigs. And don’t try to hide the fact that you cried when Maes Hughes was tragically killed by a homunculus as he tried to get important information to Mustang… Any Fullmetal Alchemist fans here?

Oh, and I obviously love art.

As a digital illustrator, I have the wondrous opportunity to take a character or moment of a story and redesign it in my vision. Or possibly your vision - because I occasionally offer commissions.

Eventually, my goal is to create my own stories and characters, but currently, I’m focusing on attending local comic conventions and artist events to meet people who share my interests and value my artwork.

So if cool, pop-culture inspired art is up your “alley” (pun intended), then follow me on Instagram and Facebook to see my collection of art and when I post new stuff!

Oh, I should mention if you’re also an artist with aspirations of selling your art, but struggling on the HOW, I invite you to read some posts from my blog. I write about my journey to becoming a successful artist and share what I learn along the way.

My dream is that we dispel the myth that being an artist means you have to choose to be poor. That should NOT be our only option.
