A Momentous Occasion!

DIY Wedding Decor!

It’s amazing how much time is spent preparing for the big day, and then it’s gone in the blink of an eye! I spent so many months making wedding decorations and macarons. I even had to put my art on hold for a couple months to finish everything (that part was really hard for me).

I will be honest and say there were some pretty stressful moments. I mean, we decided not to have a wedding coordinator, so it really was just us putting everything together - with help from family and friends, of course! However, I’m so glad we went this route, because I made everything detailed to my vision. The space was already beautiful, but the decorations really added an extra layer of awesomeness!

The Entry Sign and Seating Sign

I bought both of the chalkboards and also the flowers from Hobby Lobby. Then, I looked up fonts from Dafont.com and wrote the messages with a chalk marker. I think they added a nice touch!

Sweetheart Wreath

I wanted to hang something behind our Sweetheart Table. I made this wreath out of a wooden embroidery loop, wrapped twine around it, and arranged swag and flowers. I painted the “Mr&Mrs” chipboard with copper paint. It was a lovely addition to our pictures!

Assorted Macarons

Making the macarons was very time-consuming, but also very rewarding. I learned how to make macarons, for one! If you know anything about these cute cookies, it’s probably that they are super finicky. I literally made ten batches before I started making macaron shells that didn’t look lopsided or turn into volcanos.

I ended up making four flavors: vanilla bean, caramelized honey, orange & cream, and lemon blueberry. While the flavors were fun to create (and freaking delicious), the decorations were like the “icing on the cake,” so to speak. I’m pretty happy with how elegant they turned out, and they were a hit at the party! I may even make a side-hustle out of it, but that’s for a later time . . .
